Internet Speeds and Costs around the World – ITIF Broadband Rankings – Japan on Top !

Just happened to see this broadband speed and costs survey by ITIF ( Information Technology and Innovation Foundation )  and this shows a different picture then what i expected it to be after reading the title .  Japan , Korea, Finland and other such countries are on Top while, USA which started the Internet and has maximum Web servers hosted stands at 15th position ( how lame ! ) .

Hotmail Does not allows mail forwarding to Gmail Yahoo or anyone else

Microsoft is targeted by the open source community and the Linux enthusiasts much often , and I thought why these guys hate MS so much but today while using my hotmail account I tried to set my mail forwarding to my Gmail account it denied my request and it wont take any other account either be it yahoo,aol or anyone else.

IBM goes Peta Scale – Building a 200,000 core Super Computer !!

IBM Blue Waters IBM has taken the initiative to to build the world’s first sustained petascale computational system dedicated to open scientific research.

Named as The Blue Waters system, It  is being built for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and its National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).

It will go live by 2011 and will use more than 200,000 processor cores, more than a petabyte of memory and more than 10 petabyte’s of disk storage.

"Blue Waters will be an unrivalled national asset that will have a powerful impact on both science and society," said Thom Dunning, NCSA director and a professor of chemistry at Illinois.

"Scientists around the country simulating new medicines or materials, the weather, disease outbreaks, or complex engineered systems like power plants and aircraft are poised to make discoveries that we can only begin to imagine."
