Smart sharing adds a floating box with social media buttons in single posts,using this smart sharing plugin you can easily add your own custom codes buttons anywhere in the webpage. This plugin provide you an additional flexibility to read the post and share the article on various social media networks.

Smart Sharing plugin lets you maximize the power of your current readership to get you more votes in social media.

If you have social media buttons placed at the top of your blog posts, and your user reads the entire article, then they will have to scroll all the way to the top to share the article on various social media networks.

In a way by placing the social media buttons at the top, you are discouraging your loyal users from sharing this article. Similarly, if you have social media buttons placed at the bottom of your blog posts, then you are expecting every user to read the entire post.

What if this user simply skims rather than reading the entire post. They will never get to the very bottom, thus you lost a valuable vote from a user who actually visited your post.

This plugin adds a scrolling box with social media icons on single post pages, so as your reader scrolls down the page, they will continuously see the share button.

WordPress is already famous for its flexibility. With the right theme and plugins, you can turn a WordPress blog into almost anything that you need, such as a photo gallery.

Other than the teaching-learning process, another important part of education is the assessment process – to evaluate how well the students understand the lessons. The most common form of assessment are quizzes. So it’s only natural that this distance learning site that I’m working on should also be able to assess student understanding by adding quizzes to a blog.

The Quest For A Quiz Plugin

The challenge is finding the plugin to add the proper quizzes to your blog, one that is able to:

Create multiple choice questions.

Create as many quizzes and questions as we need.

Explain the answer to the student after the test.

Give an instant grade based on the test result.

You can search and install the plugin easily from the “Plugin > Add New” menu of your blog’s sidebar.

After installation, go to the “Settings > Quizzin Settings” menu to customize several general settings.

The settings page allows you to put all questions in a single page by checking the box, or spread the questions into several pages with the box unchecked. Users can also choose to hide or show the answer (at the end of the test or immediately after each answer).

Don’t forget to click the save button if you make some changes.

To Quiz Or Not To Quiz…

The next step is to create the quizzes by visiting “Tools > Manage Quiz” menu.

Click “Create New Quiz” to add one. In my experiment, I only tried to create two, but I think you can add as many quizzes to your blog as you need.

Give the name of the Quiz and the description. For example: “English Test #3 for Grade 1”

Then you can customize the “Final Screen“. This is what the test taker will see after he/she finishes the quiz. Similar to a blog post, Quizzin allows you to add pictures, video, sound and other multimedia files to this final screen.

The template comes with a pre-made final screen, but if you want to customize it further, there are some variables that you can use written below. Click “Save” after you finish.

…That Is The Question

Go back to the “Manage Quiz” page to add the questions.

Click the “Create New Question” link to add a question. Repeat this step to add more questions. To display the questions, just put the given code into any post.

Add the questions, choices of answers, and determine which one of the options is the correct one. There are only four choices of answer but if you need more, you can add a new answer by clicking on the small link below.

If you want to explain why the correct answer is correct, put some explanation in the box. This explanation can be displayed to the test taker if you choose to do so in the settings above. Having explanations for the mistakes will be a very good way to learn for students.

Click “Save” and you will be back to the add question page.

After you have finished with all the questions and answers, you are ready to put them in the blog post. Just create a new post and insert the code.

This is the result with the choice of answers.

1. Recent Posts Using the wp_get_archives function

<?php wp_get_archives(‘title_li=&type=postbypost&limit=10′); ?>

This would list recent 10 posts , in their own <li> tags , you can use this after post-meta or the_content () in single.php to list recent posts after every Post , or use it in any of your Sidebars.

2. Recent Posts Using the WordPress query function to query the Posts database

<?php query_posts(‘showposts=5′); ?>
<ul>
<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>
<li><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a></li>
<?php endwhile;?>
</ul>

This piece of code can be used anywhere in your theme , as it is self sufficient and it will display recent 5 posts, change the value of “showposts=5” variable to whatever no. of posts you want

3. Recent Posts widget / Plugins for the novice and beginners

If you are a noob at wordpress and still want to get the recent posts functionality , then try the various plugins available to do the work for you. You can use any of these ..

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=recent+posts

OR Use the Add plugin option in your WordPress Dashboard, and search for recent posts and you can install the plugin from their directly and easily .

Out of the 3 mentioned above I would recommend using first 2 , as they give you more control but only if you know some PHP and programming , otherwise go for the plugins ( it’s the easy way out ! ).
